Both have indicated that they are satisfied with Kinesis as the manufacturer and that the production approach matches what the family expects for a project of this kind. The first coin in the series is simply called the House of Mandela Coin. It is described as a tribute that references Mandela’s international standing, the values he publicly associated himself with, and the wider historical setting of his career. No further design details have been released beyond that general framing.
Production Details
All manufacturing is scheduled to take place at the Kinesis Mint in Istanbul. The facility occupies roughly 5,600 square metres and already handles precious-metal refining and coin production. Official statements make no mention of any alterations to the mint’s existing methods, equipment, or quality checks for this series. The coins will therefore be produced under the same operational framework the mint uses for its other work. The agreement covers both gold and silver versions, though quantities, weights, and exact specifications have not been listed in the public announcements.
Presentation and Reach
Representatives of the Mandela family are expected to take part in promoting the coins. That participation is directed at both South African audiences and international ones.
